Logitech Illuminated Keyboard Review

The Logitech illuminated keyboard is a great wired keyboard that has amazing keystrokes, a sleek design, and backlit keys that make typing in the dark easy and productive.

The wired illuminated keyboard by Logitech is a very thin and visually pleasing keyboard that is great for large amounts of typing. With the standard 104 key layout in addition to built in hot keys that are able to control media, volume, allow quick e-mail or Internet access, or even be programed for specific custom shortcuts. The keys are designed with Logitech's PerfectStroke system, which is designed to make typing with this keyboard easy and comfortable, and it really does accomplish that task. This keyboard is a breeze to type on, and won't hurt hands or fingers over long periods of intense typing, and even comes with a built in palm rest to keep typists' hands comfortable. However, the palm rest is rather small, which can be annoying at times.

The main selling point of this keyboard is the backlit keys. This keyboard has three settings for illumination, so that the backlight can be adjusted depending on the dimness. Because the keys are visible even in the dark, it's great for home use while typing late into the night, or at work if the workspace in question is dim. The actual design of the keyboard is very slim. Vertically measuring only 9.3 mm, it's great at keeping the desk space looking clean and tidy, as well as having a very modern look to it.

This keyboard will run on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. It can be bought from Logitech's website directly for 99.99 USD, which is rather expensive for a wired keyboard, but can also be purchased from Amazon for $59.99 USD if you're looking for a deal on a good keyboard.

Pros:

  • Very thin
  • Built in hot keys and programable shortcut keys
  • Easy to type on
  • Built in palm rest
  • Backlit keys
  • Can be bought directly from the manufacturer, who is also a trusted online merchant

Cons:

  • Rather expensive for a wired keyboard
  • Won't work with Macintosh computers
  • Palm rest is rather small
  • Being so thin, it is rather fragile and can be broken if dropped

Overall, this is a great keyboard to purchase no matter what it will be used for. The main downside to it is the price, but if that isn't an issue, this keyboard gets my utmost recommendation, as it is great for typing both at day and at night. The keys are very comfortable to type on and it's great for writing up documents or emails. The sleek design, hot keys and programmable shortcuts, and illumination really make this keyboard the high quality computer accessory it is.
